Elena's Second Dance Recital

Tonight was Elena's Second Dance Recital. She and the other girls have been practicing really hard for this. They were all super excited.
The recital was scheduled to start at 7:00. Because I signed up to be room mom again this year, Elena and I had to be there at 5:30. We got dressed and headed that way. My baby girl looked so beautiful.
Once kids started being dropped off, time started to fly. The kids watched the recital from backstage. They colored, snacked, played, anything to have a good time. We performed about 20 minutes after intermission. So once intermission came, we put shoes on the girls, checked hair and makeup and we were ready. We started to line up and boy did they get antsy. They were so excited.
When they got on stage though, they loved it. They were smiling and dancing. Elena's favorite part was shaking her behind and she sure did it cute!
Anyway, the recital was long, way long. We finally got out about 10:30 and home around 11:00. Landon crashed in the car the minute we got in. Elena stayed up and had dinner at home. She was so wired from all of the excitement.
She had a great time but hopefully this is the last one for a while. She doesn't want to take dancing next year so we will see if she sticks to that or not. As much as she loves it, she would rather take gymnastics.

Mother's Day 2010

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mothers, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, friends and everyone else I am forgetting. To those of you that do not have the pleasure to be a mother, I have been there and I think about you on this day more than ever.
Today was such a special day. I got to sleep until 9am. My kids didn't stir at all. We kept them up late the night before and they slept like babies. It was heaven to sleep that late on a Sunday. Once we got up, Elena was so excited about her Mother's Day gift. They made cards and self portraits at school. She has been sleeping with them under her pillow since Friday night. When she got up Sunday morning she came and curled up into bed with me for a little while. Then she hopped back up and ran to Landon's room to wake him up. I guess she remembered it was mother's day. She woke him up and Barrett scooped him out of bed then they all went to Elena's room to get my stuff. Landon carried his card in and Elena carried her card in. They both smiled and said Happy Mothers Day. They were so excited to share their surprises with me.
After we finally got out of bed, we went to moma and daddy's for Mother's Day donuts. The kids stayed in their jammies while I ran home to get dressed and get their swimsuits. We spent the day at moma & daddy's just barbequeing and letting the kids play and swim. The food was great, the company was fantastic, and it was a beautiful day. Couldn't have asked for more. This is exactly how I wanted to spend my mother's day.
After eating myself out crazy, I ended my night with a great workout at the gym. That always makes a great ending for the day, especially a day filled with overeating and over indulging.

King Kong Strikes Again!

King Kong looks like he is taking over toyland! This is the playroom at moma & daddy's house. Landon is just now being allowed to go upstairs to play in the room. This is how he decided to play on the town table. He didn't want to stand by it and play. He would climb on it every time he went up there and play on it from the top. I guess the view was better from there.
